An Awesome and Safe Car

The car you choose for a road trip can make or break your entire trip. You want something reliable and spacious with awesome features to enhance your experience, safety and comfort level. The 2015 Toyota RAV-4 Limited is all of that wrapped into one.

The first thing you need for a road trip is an awesome playlist! The RAV-4 has a great Entune™ Audio system that allows you to connect your own music via aux cord or Bluetooth and connect to XM HD radio stations and even Pandora. With the Power Moon-Roof open, my bestie and I were singing our hearts out for 5 hours straight!

Outside of a great playlist, safety is always my number one concern when traveling long distances on the road not only for my passengers and myself but also others on the road. The AWD Dynamic Torque Control made the steering firm and secure giving me total control. The RAV-4 offers several premium safety features that kept me feeling safe for nearly 1,000 miles.

  • Tire Pressure Monitor System
  • Advanced Airbag System - 8 Airbags
  • Whiplash-Injury-Lessening (WIL) Seats
  • Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
  • Turn Signal Indicators on Outside Mirrors
  • Integrated Steering Wheel Controls for Music + Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone
  • ToyotaCare

With an average of 30 Highway MPG I made it to Charleston on one $32 tank of gas. Cha-ching, money-saver!

Little did I know I would literally be going through the woods and over a river to get to my hotel and especially not arriving at midnight! Tucked away on the Ashley River through winding pitch black tiny dirt roads was my 600+ acre Inn property. At this moment I was so happy to be in a reliable SUV with clear navigation and comfy SofTex®-trimmed seats. For the entire trip, especially once I was in the woods, I loved the accuracy of the turn-by-turn navigation system -- being in an unfamiliar area so late I was a little worried about getting lost. The system gives you plenty of notice before your turn and reminds you when you're about to approach it. None of that dreaded "recalculating" error we all know too well.

One of my favorite features was the Height-Adjustable Power Activated Lift Gate. At 5'1" I sometimes can't reach the top of an SUV trunk (or see when I'm backing up so the rear camera was a life-saver!) but the RAV-4 allowed me to set the lift gate at the height of my choice for easier access each time I used it.

I took the RAV-4 into the city with an empty trunk anticipating lots of shopping and a quick beach trip! We were able to fit our beach bags in the back with plenty of room for shopping bags and with the trunk privacy cover I wasn't worried about storing our goodies in the car for the day.

With a full day of walking, shopping and a quick beach trip under our belts it was time for dinner. There was no time to go back to the Inn to change so we dusted off the sand and changed in the car. The second row seats fold down giving ample room to go from beach to chic.

It was a super hot day and after quickly changing I was dying to blast the AC. My friend and I like different temperatures but we were both able to adjust the air to the perfect temperature for our sides of the car with the Dual Zone Climate Control. Everyone wins!

Driving through the woods and driving into the city for a nice dinner are obviously two very different things and the RAV-4 is versatile enough for both. I could drive it through the mud, dirt and sand and dust it off for a nice night in the city -- going from rugged to stylish, day to night. By this time I was starving and had no idea which bag the car keys were in but it didn't matter because with the Smart Key System you can unlock the door. As long as the keys are within range, with a simple touch of the handle you can open the door and push-start the car.

Before I knew it the weekend was coming to an end and it was time to head back to Atlanta. I absolutely loved everything about this car and couldn't have asked for a better road-trip. With 2 full sized suitcases, souvenirs, purses, snacks, two beach bags and unforgettable memories we packed up the trunk to head back to Atlanta with plenty of room to spare and our singing voices ready.

Have you taken any summer road trips? If so, tell me about it below! If not, it's not too late! Get packing and take the RAV-4 with you!

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (“Toyota”) provided me with compensation and use of a RAV4 for a short period of time. The opinions I have shared about this vehicle are my own.

Special thanks to Southeast Toyota and everyone who made this trip possible!
