Happy Monday & Happy First Day of Fall, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Being super busy this past month I haven't been taking care of my self as well as I should so I decided to stay home and rest as much as possible and prepare for the fall season. My sweet Dad came all the way down from Virginia to see me this weekend, too! All of the perfect reasons to stay home.

On Friday I treated myself to a mani/pedi at my favorite nail shop and used OPI's "Did You Ear About Van Gogh?"--the color online does it no justice. They give great hand and foot massages with each service which is my absolute favorite part (the massage chairs are great too)! If I had it my way I would have a massage appointment every week.

For my birthday back in June, my sweet Mom treated me to a spa day at The Remede Spa at the St. Regis and it was so amazing! I never wanted to leave. My appointment was scheduled for 9am but it's recommended you arrive 30 minutes early to put your things away and get settled. Although getting up at 8:00am on my birthday was not the easiest task once I arrived I was so happy I scheduled my appointment that early and on a Friday. There was no one there and it was like I had the entire place to myself. After checking in the host directed me to the ladies changing/locker room where you retrieve your robe and slippers (o la la!) and store your belongings. Although they provide you with shampoo/conditioner, lotion, body scrub, razors and anything else you may need, you can really customize your experience by bringing your own products with you. During the wait time between my arrival and massage appointment there was a selection of breakfast teas, cucumber water, fruits and nuts--I hadn't eaten breakfast yet so this was perfect. My masseuse came out, introduced herself and it was massage time! I was able to select the aroma of my oil (lavender vs. lemon, etc.) each of which had their own purpose (relaxation, energy, etc.). It was early and my birthday weekend so I chose energy--didn't want to be in a coma for the rest of the day. My favorite part of the massage was the paraffin wax bags they tie onto your feet--sounds strange but the wax was nice and warm--it was so relaxing and made my feet very soft.

After the massage you are free to stay in the spa and utilize the steam room and sauna. I learned that to maximize your sauna/steam room experience it is recommended to alternate between the two rooms for about 5 minutes a piece. I started in the sauna and found it fun to ladle the water onto the hot stones and watch the steam spew up--maybe it's the big kid in me? Next I went into the eucalyptus steam room. I found it hard to keep my eyes open because THAT much steam was pouring out of the walls and the eucalyptus was strong. Not going to lie, there were a few times between the sauna and the steam room where I questioned my safety but stuck to the time limit. It is also recommended you take a quick cold shower after one or two rounds of sauna/steam room time to rinse the toxins leaving your body, start fresh and drink plenty of water, so I did.

Sauna. Steam Room. Sauna. Steam Room. Shower. Repeat!

While I was running around in heaven the wonderful staff came back to take my lunch order and asked when I wanted it ready (I mean...doesn't get much better than that). I literally did the sauna/steam room/shower cycle for another hour until lunch and felt so rejuvenated afterwards--I think I burned a few calories, too! 

I had a lobster roll by the pool for lunch and ended my morning there. I left around 1pm--talk about a full spa morning! It was absolutely wonderful and I recommend it for a special occasion or treat for yourself or someone else.

Since I couldn't return to Remede Spa this weekend I made a mini spa day at home on Saturday after my mani/pedi on Friday. Stress and lack of sleep can leave your skin and hair feeling dry and dull. With fall here and winter around the corner I like to take extra care to moisturize and hydrate.  I used Freeman's Avocado + Oatmeal Facial Mask to rejuvenate, moisturize and purify my face and neck. The mask has Vitamin E and Kaolin Clay which really helps to nourish and deep clean. For my hair I used Palmer's Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Protein Pack with Vitamin E. I'm still searching for "the perfect" deep conditioner with all natural ingredients but I haven't found one yet but for now Palmer's gets the job done. My hair looked and felt so much better afterwards--super soft and shiny. In combination with the DC I used Silk Elements Kera Minerals Sulfate Free Shampoo, Carol's Daughter Hair Milk Conditioner and Mizani Thermastrength Heat Protecting Serum since I was planning on straightening my hair. The results were great for all products used! On top of taking care of my hair, skin and nails I made sure to rest, relax and have a good meal with plenty of water.
